Richard "Dick" Rademacher Obituary

Richard “Dick” R. Rademacher, age 91, of Brainerd, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at Harmony House in Pierz. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Visitation will be one hour prior to services, and the interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.

A continued Celebration of Dick’s life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at This Old Farm (17469 State Hwy 18 in Brainerd).

Dick Rademacher was born December 20, 1932, in Luverne, MN; one of three sons to Ralph and Minnie (Hoven) Rademacher. He met the love of his life, Marion Seelen, at the roller rink at Bull Dog Lake. Dick and Marion were married on May 12, 1954, in Hillman. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1954 and was stationed in Germany. Dick was honorably discharged in 1956.

After returning to Brainerd, he owned and operated Rademacher Welding with his brother, Harold. Later, he built TV towers with his brother, Donald. One of Dick’s welding creations, the yellow duck, is still enjoyed today at Kiwanis Park. He started his extensive collection at a very young age. Collecting antiques was a life-long passion. Dick began to display his “collection” of unique items at the Farm Show in the early 1980s; this was his pride and joy. This inevitably turned into what is now This Old Farm, where individuals can enjoy a blast from the past.

Above all else, Dick was a family man and enjoyed making gifts for his children and grandchildren. He was an awesome dad and a man of few words. Dick was like a second father to his grandchildren and was proud to share what he did and everything he knew with the next generations. Family dinners were comforting and memorable for his family. Dick was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Dick will fondly be remembered as quiet, passionate, loving, and for his great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dick is survived by his children, Lois (Scott) Moon, Dale (Nancy), Gary (Stella), Alan (Mandy), and Charlie Tindell; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Marion; brothers, Donald and Harold.
